LONGHORN CATTLE

The Longhorn is known for its characteristic horns, which can exceed 4 feet tip to tip for steers and cows and in bulls can be as much as 80 inches across. They originated in northwest England and Ireland and are used primarily in meat production. The meat is very lean and thus, lower in fat, cholesterol and calories than most beef.

Males can reach as high as 60 inches in height and weigh as much as 2,200 pounds.
